So how hard is it to use peel and sticks. Here are some hints:
Clean wall and make sure it is dried out. For recently painted walls let paint "cure" for 10 to 15 days prior to applying decals. Even if new paint seems dry, it may nonetheless need to settle and completely cure. Peel and Stick Wall Decals are not recommended on "Orange Peel" textured walls, over cinder blocks, very textured and porous surfaces, wallpaper or delicate surfaces. Wall stickers are OK to apply onto tile as long as the surface is thoroughly clean and absolutely free of moisture during application. Make sure the design element does not cover grout region as water could filter under and damage the adhesive. Apply onto shower walls, as long as they are positioned snugly onto the surface area so moisture can't reach under the design element. Once placed, RoomMates won't move even if sprayed by shower.
Vinyl wall decals shouldn't be placed in a dishwater or microwave and they should not be positioned on rugs, fabrics and any other textiles. Textile fibers may stick to the adhesive and ruin the product. Also, don't position at the base or inside the tub. Water could seep under the design element too easily and would damage the adhesive. When putting on, make sure you start from one side (for the border) or the top (for the appliques) of each element. Keep the rest of the element separate from the wall/surface. Slowly go straight down over the product with your hand and smooth the element onto surface (and press the bubbles out as you go). Once put on you should be able to move any leftover bubbles out by pressing/smoothing them out of the section. If the problem persists (this would only occur with the giant decals), you can punch a very small (invisible to the eye) hole with a pin to drive the air out.
In all, it will always be most effective to test wall decals in an inconspicuous area. If the surface area is textured, effectiveness could be critically reduced. Ensure that surface is thoroughly clean of dust and dirt or you may damage the adhesive and wreck the merchandise. Recreation |
